This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have concerning your data. By using Arete, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Our Philosophy on Data (The "Anti-Fragmented" Promise)

We built Arete to be a sanctuary, not a surveillance tool. Our core philosophy is that your data—your moods, habits, and journals—belongs to you. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. We only use data to provide the functionality of the "Life OS" and to help you understand the connection between your habits and your well-being.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us
When you create an account and use the App, we collect the following data to enable core features:

Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo (optional).
Wellness Data (The "Context Engine"):
- Identity Tags: (e.g., "Runner," "Writer," "Parent") used to categorize your habits.
- Habits & Routines: Data on habit completion, routine duration, and frequency.
- Mood Logs: Subjective energy ratings (e.g., "Radiant," "Heavy") and associated notes.
- Journal Entries: Text-based reflections stored securely associated with your account.
Community Data: Information you choose to share in "The Agora" (Founding Circle), including posts, comments, and circle memberships.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (required for debugging and app performance).
Usage Data: Anonymous analytics regarding how you interact with the app (e.g., which buttons are clicked, time spent in "Flow Mode"). This helps us improve the user experience.

2.3 Data Linked to You vs. Not Linked

Linked Data: Your Account Info, Wellness Data, and Community Data are linked to your identity to allow you to log in across devices and save your progress.
Not Linked: Crash logs and aggregate usage statistics are anonymized and not linked to your personal identity.

3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely for the following purposes:

To Provide the Service: To track your habits, visualize your mood history, and execute "Flow Mode" routines.
To Generate Insights: To cross-reference your data (e.g., showing you how your mood correlates with habit completion).
To Improve Arete: To identify bugs, prevent crashes, and understand which features are most valuable to our Founding Circle.
Community Features: To display your profile and posts within the "Agora" community spaces you opt-in to join.

We do NOT use your data for third-party advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
Arete is built using Bubble.io and utilizes secure cloud infrastructure to ensure your data is accessible across your devices. We may employ the following third-party services to facilitate the App’s functionality:

Bubble.io: Hosting and backend infrastructure.
Apple Services: For authentication (Sign in with Apple) and processing in-app purchases.
Stripe (if applicable): For processing payments securely. We do not store your credit card information on our servers.

All third-party providers are vetted to ensure they adhere to strict data protection standards.

5. Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data. You may exercise the following rights:

Access & Correction: You can view and edit your personal data (name, habits, logs) directly within the App’s profile settings.
Opt-Out of Notifications: You can manage push notifications for routine reminders through your device’s system settings.
Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. This can be done directly within the App via Profile > Settings > Delete Account. Upon request, all data associated with your account will be permanently removed from our servers.

6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App’s services. If you delete your account, your data will be deleted from our active databases, though some data may be retained in backups for a limited period for disaster recovery purposes or as required by law.

7. Children’s Privacy
Arete is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we may notify you via email or an in-app alert.
