Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and The Uninterrupted Life LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"), governing your use of the Arete mobile application and related services ("Arete," the "Service"). By creating an account or using Arete, you agree to these Terms and to our [Privacy Policy](https://theareteapp.io/privacy-policy).

If you do not agree, do not use Arete.

1. Who can use Arete

You must be at least 17 years old to use Arete.

You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Keep your login information secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

2. What Arete is — and is not

Arete is a personal development app: you define identities you're working toward, log actions, build a visual mosaic of your progress, journal, track mood, and talk with Ari, an AI guide.

Arete is not a medical device, therapy, or professional advice. Arete—including Ari—does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, tax, investment, or financial advice, and no professional–client relationship of any kind is created by using it. Content in Arete is for personal-growth and informational purposes only. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional for questions about a medical or mental-health condition, or about legal or financial decisions.

If you are in crisis, do not rely on Arete. In the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

3. Ari and AI-generated content

Ari's responses are generated by artificial intelligence. That means:

  • Ari can be wrong. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation, even when they sound confident. Use your own judgment, and verify anything important independently.

  • Ari is a guide, not an authority. Ari is designed to ask questions and offer perspectives, not to make decisions for you. You are responsible for the decisions you make and the actions you take.

  • AI output is not professional advice (see Section 2).

  • Fair-use limits apply. To keep the Service sustainable, AI features are subject to reasonable usage limits (for example, a daily cap on Ari chat messages). We may adjust these limits over time.

  • Arete may automatically screen messages for signs of crisis in order to surface crisis resources. This is a safety feature, not monitoring by a human, and it does not guarantee that risk will be detected.

4. Your content

You own the content you create in Arete — journal entries, identities, posts, recordings, photos, and everything else ("Your Content").

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely as needed to operate and improve the Service—for example, storing your community posts, showing them to other users in the feed, transmitting journal excerpts to our AI provider to generate Ari's responses, and transcribing your voice recordings. This license ends when the content is deleted from the Service, except where limited retention is described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not use Your Content to train AI models, and our AI providers are contractually restricted from doing so with API data.

You are responsible for Your Content and must have the rights to anything you post.

5. Community guidelines and acceptable use

Arete includes community spaces where your posts, reactions, and survey responses are visible to other users. When you participate, you agree not to post or do any of the following:

  • Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or personal attacks

  • Content that is sexually explicit, graphically violent, or otherwise objectionable

  • Encouragement or glorification of self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating

  • Spam, scams, pyramid/MLM recruiting, or unsolicited advertising

  • Impersonation of any person, or misrepresentation of your affiliation

  • Other people's private information posted without their consent

  • Content that infringes anyone's intellectual property or other rights

  • Medical, financial, or legal advice presented as professional counsel

  • Anything unlawful, or that encourages unlawful activity

Beyond the community, you also agree not to: attempt to access other users' data; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service; reverse engineer the App except where the law permits; scrape the Service; misuse Ari to generate content that violates these rules or attempt to circumvent Ari's safety features; resell or commercially exploit the Service; or interfere with its operation.

Moderation, reporting, and blocking. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these guidelines, at our discretion and without prior notice. You can report any community post or comment directly in the App (each item's menu includes a Report option), and you can block another user so their content no longer appears in your feed. You can also report concerns to a human at support@theuninterruptedlife.com — we review reports and act on violations of these guidelines.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Free tier. Arete's core features are free, including one active identity, the mosaic, habits, routines, journaling, mood tracking, community, and basic Ari chat.

Arete Plus is an optional paid subscription that unlocks unlimited identities, voice journaling with transcription, and full Ari intelligence (cross-session memory, weekly insights, and longitudinal narrative). The feature list may evolve; the in-app paywall describes what's currently included.

  • Pricing. Arete Plus is offered as an annual subscription at $49.99/year (USD), or as a monthly subscription at the price shown in the App. Prices may vary by region and are always shown before you purchase. We may offer promotional pricing. Promotional pricing applies for the stated period and renews at the then-current standard price unless cancelled.

  • Billing and renewal. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account and renew automatically until you cancel. Your store account is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

  • Cancellation. Cancel anytime through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Plus access until then. Amounts already paid are non-refundable except as described below.

  • Refunds. Because billing runs through Apple and Google, refunds are handled by them under their policies — request a refund through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play. We cannot issue App Store or Play refunds directly. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable statutory refund rights in your jurisdiction.

  • Price changes. If we change subscription prices, the new price applies to renewals after notice to you, consistent with App Store / Google Play rules. If you don't agree with a price increase, cancel before it takes effect.

  • Free trials or intro offers, if offered, convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled before it ends.

7. Founding Circle

Founding Circle membership is a limited, invitation-based status granted to early supporters of Arete. Founding Circle members receive lifetime access to Arete Plus features at no recurring charge — meaning for as long as the member maintains an account in good standing and the Arete service continues to operate. Founding Circle status:

  • is personal and non-transferable, and tied to a single account;

  • covers the Arete Plus feature set as it exists and evolves within the Arete app — it does not automatically include separately priced future products or services;

  • may be revoked if the account materially violates these Terms.

If Arete is discontinued, Founding Circle status ends with the Service; it is not a refundable or redeemable financial instrument. If the company is acquired, this status transfers under the same assignment right that covers the rest of these Terms (Section 17).

8. Intellectual property

Arete—including the app, design, mosaic system, Ari, text, and branding—is owned by The Uninterrupted Life LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on your devices for personal, non-commercial use. Except for Your Content, you gain no ownership rights in the Service. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.

9. Health data and integrations

If you connect Apple HealthKit / Health Connect or your calendar, those integrations work as described in the Privacy Policy: read-only, on-device, and only with your permission. Arete's use of health data is limited to the features you see in the App. Fitness- and wellness-related content in Arete is informational and not a substitute for professional guidance; consult a physician before making significant changes to exercise, sleep, or nutrition, particularly if you have a medical condition.

10. Termination

You can stop using Arete and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account; see the Privacy Policy for what deletion does).

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where practical, we'll give you notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4 licenses already exercised, 8, 11, 12, and 13) survive.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR SITUATION, THAT DATA STORED ON YOUR DEVICE WILL NEVER BE LOST, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

You are encouraged to keep your own copies of content that matters to you.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE — INCLUDING RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED CONTENT — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (i) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (ii) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50).

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, AND NOTHING HERE LIMITS LIABILITY FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR FRAUD.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Uninterrupted Life LLC and its officers, members, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Arbitration agreement and class action waiver: Except for small-claims-court matters or intellectual-property disputes, you and The Uninterrupted Life LLC agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. YOU AND WE EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@theuninterruptedlife.com with your name and account email, stating that you opt out. If this arbitration agreement is found unenforceable for any reason, disputes will instead be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

15. App store terms

Your use of Arete is also subject to the applicable rules of the platform you downloaded it from (Apple App Store or Google Play). For iOS users: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the App and is not responsible for claims relating to it; and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Arete evolves. We'll post the updated version at this URL and update the effective date; for material changes we'll notify you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Arete after changes take effect means you accept them.

17. Miscellaneous

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
